Built in 1871 employing the designs of Second Empire Italianate architecture, the Hower House is named after its first owner, wealthy businessman John Henry Hower. The towering three-story mansion has rooms arranged in the style of many churches, with a central eight-sided room leading into ancillary surrounding rooms. Filled with beautiful antiques, carefully restored and surrounded by acres of grass and trees, the historic home is open for tours and special seasonal events. It is located on the northern side of the University of Akron campus, about a mile distant from the Akron Art Museum.

Adults $6; Seniors (65+) $5; Students $2; Children under 6 are free.
